You Are One of a Kind: The Beauty of Individuality and Unity

Elizabeth Golden

Dear reader,

We are all unique, and no two are alike—people, snowflakes, flowers, sunsets, smiles, roses…

Each of us is a perfectly designed, one-of-a-kind creation. Like diamonds with their many facets or flowers with their diverse petals, colors, and healing properties, we are each wonderfully distinct. A great example is lavender; with over 600 varieties, each plant is unique. Even those growing inches apart can differ completely, much like siblings raised in the same home who grow into unique individuals. We are all amazing!

Marianne Williamson captures this beautifully:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

As we awaken and ask ourselves questions about who we are, we naturally begin to find the answers we seek. These answers may appear in a song, an email with the perfect words, a phone call from a friend, or even a message while driving. They often come when we least expect them. Learning to be open and receptive is an empowering step on the spiritual path.

We are here to support each other on this journey. We reflect one another and often gravitate toward like-minded individuals. At times, we may also attract adversity to learn valuable lessons. Some of our greatest teachers are the most challenging people in our lives—love them anyway!

It’s fascinating to explore our uniqueness as human beings. Talking with a new friend and discovering shared experiences creates a sense of connection and understanding, something we all deeply need. Connection nurtures us and reminds us of the beautiful unity within our individuality.

Essential oils nurture us too!  They are a part of mother earth and provide wellness, many healing properties and emotional support.  Essential oils are a precious gift from the plant kingdom in the form of beautiful scents.  What could be better? We all appreciate something that smells beautiful, especially if it comes directly from the earth.  Connect with your favorite essential oil today and allow it to gift you the precious scent within.

With love, joy and many blessings,

Elizabeth
